Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

Inkveil (“Inkveil,” “we,” “us”) is an interactive AI roleplay platform. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Inkveil.

2. Eligibility & age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Inkveil. Inkveil contains a mix of general-audience and mature (adult) interactive fiction. Mature content is hidden by default and is only made available after you confirm that you are 18 or older; you must not access mature content if you are under 18. By using Inkveil you confirm that you meet these age requirements. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under it.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for safeguarding your password. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

4. Content & acceptable-use policy

Inkveil hosts both general-audience and mature (adult) interactive fiction. Mature content is gated behind an 18+ confirmation (see Section 2), and consensual adult themes between adults are permitted within that gated fiction. However, the following content is strictly prohibitedand may not be created, uploaded, or generated — regardless of how a character is labelled or whether it is marked mature:

  • Sexual content involving minors. Any sexual or suggestive content involving anyone under 18, or any character who is depicted, described, or implied to be a minor — even if an adult age is stated. This is a hard line with no exceptions and is the rule most often responsible for a blocked save. Attempting to create, generate, or steer such content — including describing or making any character a minor in a mature context — is a suspendable and bannable offence. These attempts are blocked, logged, and referred to our team for review and account action.
  • Content that sexualizes a real, identifiable person without their consent.
  • In any sexual context: incest or sexual roleplay between family members; bestiality involving real animals; necrophilia; and sexual exploitation or trafficking of any kind.
  • Credible threats of violence, or instructions to carry out real-world violence, terrorism, or other serious crimes.
  • Content that promotes or instructs self-harm or suicide.
  • Hateful content that incites violence or dehumanizes people based on a protected characteristic.
  • Harassment, threats, or targeted abuse of other members, wherever it occurs on Inkveil.
  • Content that violates someone's privacy or another applicable law.

Fictional dark themes. Themes of non-consent may appear only as clearly fictional roleplay between adult characters within gated mature fiction. Content that presents sexual violence as real, endorsed, or instructional is prohibited, as is combining graphic violence or gore with sexual content.

Public images. Avatars, profile pictures, and cover images are shown to everyone who browses Inkveil. They must not be sexually explicit, even though mature themes are permitted within private text roleplay. Suggestive imagery may be allowed; explicit nudity is not.

We use automated moderation together with user reports and human review. Content matching the prohibited categories above is blocked at save time; other severe content may be allowed but flagged for review. We may refuse, remove, or restrict any content, and suspend the accounts responsible, at our discretion. When investigating a report, a moderator may review the reporting user's chat messages tied to that report as evidence; such access is limited to what's needed and is logged.

If a save was blocked, it's because the content matched one of the prohibited categories above — most often the first one. Editing out the prohibited element will let it save.

Safety reporting, law enforcement & complaints

Where we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material — including AI-generated or fictional depictions of minors — we report it to the appropriate authorities and child-protection organizations (including NCMEC) as required by law, and we cooperate with law enforcement in response to valid legal process. We maintain zero tolerance for human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of any person.

Anyone may report content or conduct they believe is illegal or violates these terms — use the in-app report tools or email support@inkveil.ai. We review and resolve reports of potentially illegal content within five (5) business days. If your content or account was actioned and you believe we got it wrong, you can appeal at /appeal. Complaints that are wholly unjustified or made in bad faith may themselves be treated as a breach of these terms.

5. AI-generated content

Characters and replies are works of interactive fiction generated by AI. They can be inaccurate, and are not professional, medical, legal, or other advice. You are responsible for how you use anything the service produces.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the characters and content you create, and you are responsible for them. By creating content you grant us the licence needed to host, display, promote, and moderate it so the service can operate — including showcasing public characters in our community channels. We may review or remove content to enforce these terms.

Feedback and suggestions you send us about the service may be used freely to improve Inkveil, without obligation or compensation.

7. Termination

You may stop using Inkveil at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect the service or its users.

8. Disclaimers, liability & indemnity

Inkveil is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. AI output can be unpredictable; we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms removes protections that consumer law grants you and that cannot be waived.

You agree to indemnify and hold Inkveil harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (outages of infrastructure or AI providers, natural disasters, war, or similar force-majeure events).

9. Governing law & communications

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections of your own country. By creating an account you consent to receive service communications electronically; because Inkveil hosts mature fiction, emails and notifications relating to your activity may reference adult content — marketing communications can be opted out of at any time.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Inkveil after an update means you accept the revised terms.
